Data controller
Andrea Pochintesta, Italy · team.bandcheckup@gmail.com. BandCheckup is the name of an independent online training project run by the data controller. Because the controller is based in Italy, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679, "GDPR") applies to everyone who uses this site, wherever they live.
This site
This site does not use profiling cookies or analytics tools and does not load third-party resources, except for the anti-bot check on the sign-up forms (see below). The service that hosts the site may record technical data about visits (such as your IP address) for security and to keep the site working, under its own terms. If we add measurement tools in the future, we will update this page before turning them on.
Signing up for the Free Band Check and the waitlist
What data: your email address, your country, the channel you came from (for example Instagram or YouTube, if the link says so), the test date and the band you need (if you give them), whether you joined the waitlist, and the date and time of your sign-up.
Why: to send you what you asked for and, if you agreed with the box on the form, emails from BandCheckup with tips and news about our IELTS and TOEFL preparation courses, including the news when enrolment opens. We ask for your country because some local rules on emails and data depend on it, and because sign-ups from the United Kingdom are not open yet.
Legal basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), given with the box on the form. You can withdraw it at any time with the "unsubscribe" link in every email or by writing to us; withdrawal does not affect what was done before.
Who processes it for us: the email service Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, France), as our processor, under its own terms and privacy policy. Your data is not sold or passed on to anyone else.
Anti-bot check: to protect the forms from automated sign-ups, they use Cloudflare Turnstile (Cloudflare, Inc.). Turnstile looks at technical data about your connection and browser (such as your IP address and browser type) only to tell a person from an automated program; our server checks the result before passing the sign-up to Brevo. For this purpose Cloudflare acts on our behalf as a processor; to improve its bot detection it processes this data as an independent controller, under its own Turnstile privacy policy. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in the security of the site and of the list (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR); it is a necessary technical tool and does not require cookie consent.
How long: for as long as you stay subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we keep only your address on the list of people who do not want our emails, so we do not write to you again by mistake.
Transfers outside the EU: Brevo stores data in the EU. Where a provider named on this page may transfer data outside the EU, it does so under the safeguards described in its own policy (such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses).
Our social media tools
We use internal tools, used only by the data controller, to publish BandCheckup content on our own social profiles and read their statistics. They are not offered to the public, do not ask for access to other people's accounts and do not collect, store or share personal data of other people.
Content statistics
We only use aggregate numbers about our posts (views, interactions, sign-ups) to improve our content. No data is sold or passed on.
Your rights and data deletion
You can ask for access to, correction or deletion of your data, restriction of processing, data portability, and you can object to processing, by writing to team.bandcheckup@gmail.com with the subject "Data deletion" or "Privacy request": we reply within 30 days (instructions). You can also complain to the Italian data protection authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali) or to the authority of the country where you live or work.
